Note: Your lab environment and applications are customized for your course. This feature may not be available in all lab environments.
Follow the instructions below to allocate and destroy lab resources in Lab Broker.
Allocate Lab Resources
1. In your UMGC Classroom, please locate the Virtual Lab Access, under the table of contents and launch the Virtual Lab Access link. This will display the Lab Broker UI and control panel.
2. Scroll down and click on Start Allocation on the center of the course for which you want to allocate lab computer(s).
3. This will build and allocate your lab environment.
4. Once the lab has been allocated, you will be prompted to start your virtual machines. You can either start all the VM's in the lab or just select one VM to start, based on your lab exercise. Select Start All Nodes or just Start for individual nodes.
5. The VM's will now be startup with the animation you are seeing below:
5. When the Launch buttons are active, you can connect to your lab computer.
Destroying Lab Resources
IMPORTANT: Destroying your lab computer is the same as erasing your computer's hard drive and installing a new operating system on your drive. ALL DATA will be ERASED and a new computer will be rebuilt when you allocate the lab computer again.
1. Open Virtual Lab Access in your online classroom..
2. In the top right hand corner, you should see Destroy Lab. Select Destroy Lab:
3. Read the popup message carefully and type "DESTROY" as it displays on the popup message and select Destroy Lab.
4. An animation will appear that the lab is being destroyed. When the process completes, the lab is ready for allocation, and you can follow the instructions above to allocate the lab.
